Ariba pays $37 mln to settle patent suit with ePlus

NEW YORK, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Ariba Inc. (ARBA.O: Quote, Profile, Research) , a business software maker, said on Monday that it has agreed to pay $37 million in the first quarter to settle patent infringement litigation with ePlus Inc. (PLUS.O: Quote, Profile, Research) .
The litigation, which has been pending in a federal court in Virginia, will be dismissed, according to Ariba. Ariba said it and ePlus have entered into a broad cross-license agreement, so its customers will be unaffected.
