Northwestern Mineral Ventures Inc.
(OTCBB: NWTMF and TSX-V: NWT) $0.81

03/22/06

UPDATE
Over the past few months we had been reminding readers that this junior mining company was awaiting final approval from the Government of Niger for two uranium concessions.

Northwestern recently announced that it completed the acquisition of these two uranium properties in the democratic west African country and that it is one of the first North American companies to acquire uranium exploration permits in Niger.

The concessions total 4,000 square kilometers (988,000 acres) and are located within the same geographical area as two mines that yield nearly 10% of global uranium production combined. It should also be noted that Niger is the world’s fourth largest uranium producer and offers great potential given the availability of modern, remote-sensing and geological modeling technology that has not yet been rigorously applied in that country.

Prior to the Niger announcement, the Company reported it signed a Letter of Intent with Azimut Exploration Inc. (TSX-V: AZM) to acquire a controlling interest in a uranium project in the Ungava Bay region of northern Quebec, Canada.

The Azimut Exploration agreement followed the completion of the agreement to acquire 100% ownership of the Firefly Project in Utah's La Sal uranium district and a deal to acquire up to 75% ownership in the Waterbury Project, which includes nine uranium claims in the eastern Athabasca Basin in Saskatchewan, Canada.

We continue to believe Northwestern holds much potential as it aggressively attempts to expand its property holdings within the quickly growing uranium industry.

Estimates expect the demand for uranium to exceed supply by 11% and for prices to double over the next decade. Furthermore, we feel the Company’s management experience and contacts will prove beneficial to shareholders as it continues its evaluation of mergers and acquisitions.

We continue to find Northwestern an attractive long-term mining play for high-risk tolerant investors.
