OEM Powertrain Systems:
Quantum-Tecstar specializes in designing and integrating complete OEM powertrain systems for a multitude of applications including fuel cell vehicles, hybrids, and alternative fuel, gasoline and diesel engines. Our discipline to design, validate and certify engines and powertrain systems to the same standards as the OEMs has resulted in high quality solutions from concept to production. Our emission testing facility in Lake Forest, California, was the first to utilize AVL's bag mini-diluter technology that has been approved by CARB and EPA, and is the preferred method for testing Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (SULEV). Utilizing vehicle chassis and engine cell equipment, we provide emissions testing for vehicle production programs and for developers of aftermarket performance products. This lab is also one of only a few select West Coast emissions facilities capable of testing vehicles fueled with hydrogen. We have developed a full array of services including EPA/CARB certification testing including SULEV, development testing including catalyst efficiency, OBD II calibration, engine durability testing, engine mapping and in-use fleet testing.

Our 33,000 square foot manufacturing/technical center in Troy, Michigan, features three separate dynamometer test cells for testing or tuning engines. Our 2WD, 4WD or AWD chassis dynamometer is thought to be the largest in North America, with the capability of handling engines up to 2000 hp, and race cars that can reach speeds of 200 mph.

H2Hybrid
The Next Best Thing to a Fuel Cell Vehicle.
Fuel cells are the future, but you can drive the Hydrogen Highway today. Hybrid electric vehicles converted to run on hydrogen are a practical, affordable and user-friendly alternative that offer most of the benefits of fuel cell vehicles at a fraction of the cost. Quantum's H2Hybrid provides an opportunity for you to develop your hydrogen fleet as a precursor to fuel cell vehicles. Hybrid electric vehicles equipped with hydrogen-fueled internal combustion engines can stimulate the demand for hydrogen, expedite the development of infrastructure and provide a bridge to fuel cell vehicles. Quantum's H2Hybrid package, currently available for the Toyota Prius, is designed to meet SULEV (super ultra low emission vehicle) standards. Additionally, the H2Hybrid generates comparable power to the gasoline version along with increased fuel economy.
