Nevada Geothermal Power Inc. (NGP), (NGP: TSX Venture Exchange, NGLPF: OTCBB) is an emerging renewable energy producer focusing on the development of CLEAN geothermal projects in both Nevada and Oregon. The company began in 1995 as Blue Desert Mining and became known as NGP in 2003.
Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, NGP holds 100 % leasehold interest in its three Nevada projects: Blue Mountain, Pumpernickel, and Black Warrior and an Oregon project, Crump Geyser. If all developed, the projects could have a cumulative generation capacity of more than 200 MW, or enough green energy to meet the annual electricity demand for 200,000 homes.
NGP is on its way to establishing itself in the geothermal industry with its first geothermal power plant, Blue Mountain. The power plant is expected to be completed by the end of 2009 with the power plant having recently been increased in size from 35 MW (gross) to deliver up to 49.8 MW (gross) of electricity.There is >currently a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement with Nevada Power Company to deliver up to 31.25 MW net. NGP is gathering steam and is now looking for more acquisitions to build its inventory of geothermal reservoirs.
