Barnabus Energy Updates Suncone Progress

Barnabus Energy, Inc. (OTC BB: BBSE) has announced the progress achieved over the past two months by the team of Dr. Mel Prueitt and the technologists at HYTEC Engineering as they work towards the development of the Suncone solar concentrator.

In recent weeks, several multi-million dollar solar concentrating projects have made industry news. One such project located in California utilizes a trough system, while Nevada Light and Power has chosen a dish installation coupling parabolic reflectors with Sterling engines. Barnabus President David Saltman notes, “That a single public utility project of this scale using a Suncone Solar Array could represent sales in excess of 100 million dollars. With news like this coming out, our engineering team is increasingly motivated and committed towards the rapid development and commercialization of Suncone".

“We are in the process of achieving something that has never been done before. It is both challenging and exciting to see the project coming together,” stated Dr. Prueitt. “In order to build the most cost-effective solar concentrator, we must determine the best geometry by computer simulation, and subsequently fabricate the first cone using high-performance material, and then test energy output and other performance parameters.”

HYTEC has allocated five highly qualified scientists and engineers to the project. The team has established the geometric configuration of the cone, and determined the materials for the first working prototype, including the glass-encased zirconium rod that will serve as the energy collection point. The aluminum support structure that will house the Suncone system is fabricated and ready for initial assembly.

Over the next two weeks, the support structure will be mounted to a sun-tracking device, awaiting the arrival of the various components of the working prototype. Riney Bennett, project leader for HYTEC said, “With Barnabus providing funding and Dr. Prueitt supporting us with his computer simulations and mathematical calculations, we are confident that we have the resources to bring this project from concept to working prototype. Once we have the first Suncone built, we can test and optimize the design, prior to producing a full six or seven cone array.”

Overall, management believes that Suncone’s design represents a potentially significant advantage in securing large multi-megawatt ventures. Given the ever-increasing demand for renewable energy, the project team is hard at work moving product development towards the moment where the Company can initiate a national sales program.
