Germany's Deutsche Bank (DB: News ) announced Friday that it will buy a 29.75% stake in Deutsche Postbank from Deutsche Post for 2.79 billion euros or
57.25 euros per share . The consideration is to be paid fully in cash.
Deutsche Bank said it will fund the acquisition through an equity offering of 2 billion euros. The bank has also acquired the rights to buy an additional 18% in Deutsche Postbank for
55 euros per share. The option could be exercised
between 12 months and 36 months after the acquisition of the initial 29.75% stake. The deal is expected to close
in the first quarter of 2009.
