Mylan Labs quarterly profit rises 39%
Mylan Laboratories Inc. (MYL) after Thursday's closing bell reported fiscal third-quarter net earnings of $48.2 million, or 22 cents a share, up 39% from $34.8 million, or 13 cents a share, last year. Excluding certain items, the company reported a per-share profit of 25 cents a share. Revenue rose to $311.2 million from $291 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had forecast a profit of 24 cents a share on revenue of $308 million.
Gateway Inc. posts $22.4 million profit
Gateway Inc. (GTW) on Thursday reported a fourth-quarter profit of $22.4 million, or 6 cents a share, on $1.12 billion in revenue. Excluding one-time items, Gateway would have earned 4 cents a share. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call forecast a profit of 5 cents a share on $1.22 billion in revenue. A year ago, Gateway earned $94 million, or 25 cents a share, on revenue of $1.03 billion a year ago. However, last year's results included a one-time gain of $100 million due to the retirement of some preferred stock. Excluding that gain, Gateway would have lost 2 cents a share a year ago.
California Pizza quarterly income falls
California Pizza Kitchen Inc. (CPKI) after Thursday's closing bell said fourth-quarter net income was $3.48 million, or 17 cents a share, compared with $5.71 million, or 29 cents a share, during the same period last year. The company said quarterly revenue was $125.4 million, compared with $115.2 million last year. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had expected revenue of $126 million. For 2006, California Pizza expects per-share income of $1.10 to $1.14, with pro forma results of $1.35 to $1.39 a share. Analysts are looking for 2006 per-share income of $1.38.
Cohu quarterly profit nearly quadruples; rev rises 95%
Cohu Inc. (COHU) after Thursday's closing bell reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $12.3 million, or 53 cents a share, vs. $2.46 million, or 11 cents a share, last year. Revenue at the Poway, Calif.-based maker of semiconductor test-handling equipment rose 95%, to $74.1 million from $38.1 million.
