Jiangxi Copper Company, founded in July of 1979, is an extra-large integrated enterprise in China's non-ferrous metals industry and the Company covers copper mining, milling, smelting and processing operations. It is the largest copper production base and the important sulfur, gold and silver producer in China. And it is also one of the 512 State-supported key enterprises. In 1995, Jiangxi Copper was given the title of "National Customer-satisfactory Enterprise" and from 1993 to 1998, it was, successively six times, appraised to be "Excellent Enterprise in Jiangxi Province".
Jiangxi Copper has, with the support from the State and through 20 years of development, formed a production capacity of 200,000t/y copper cathode, accounting for one fifth of total copper production in the country. In 1998, mines of Jiangxi Copper produced 115,900t of copper metal contained in concentrate, which accounted for one quarter of the country's total. And the Company also turned out 540,000t/y of sulfuric acid and 110,000t/y of sulfur concentrate the same year.
Jiangxi Copper has in recent years been reorganized to have established a Sino-foreign joint stock limited company -- Jiangxi Copper Co. Ltd., which is absolutely held by Jiangxi Copper. The limited company issued successfully H-shares both at Hong Kong and London Stock Exchanges, thus becoming the first mining company floating shares outside of China's main land. Jiangxi Copper Company has affiliates as Jiangxi Copper Co. Ltd. (composed of Dexing Copper Mine, Yongping Copper Mine and Guixi Smelter), Wushan, Dongxiang, Yinshan and Chengmenshan mines etc. with more than 30,000 employees and 9,500 million yuan of assets.
Major products of the Company are: copper cathode, sulfuric acid, gold, silver, platinum, palladium, copper sulfate, selenium, tellurium, rhenium, molybdenum, arsenic oxide; copper, lead, zinc and sulfur concentrates; copper ingots, rods and wires etc. In which "Guiye" trademarked copper cathode is LME registered and "Guiye" trademarked sulfuric acid is the State Excellent Gold Product. Some products from the Company export to the USA, Japan and other countries in Europe and southeast Asia. The Company has technical, economic or commercial connections with more than 30 countries and areas.
